
Alexander Utz is a Chicago-based playwright, actor, musician, and the artistic director of Avalanche Theatre.
His plays have been developed or produced with The Plagiarists, Bower Theatre Ensemble, Three Brothers Theatre, the International Museum of Surgical Science, Platform Productions, Avalanche Theatre, Otherworld Theatre, Benchmark Theatre, Illinois State University, Mississippi State University, the Beverly Arts Center, Three Cat Productions, and 5th Wall Productions. He has held residencies with the Mackinac State Historic Parks, and with Three Brothers Theatre, and has been named a Semi-Finalist for the UCross + Blank Theatre Future of Playwriting Prize 2022. Select plays have been published by Next Stage Press.

His company Avalanche Theatre develops new plays by Chicago playwrights and presents workshop readings in its Next Draft Series.
He also works as the Marketing Manager of the historic Fine Arts Building and Studebaker Theater in Chicago's South Loop.
